Easy Father’s Day Crafting Ideas that Dads Can Do WITH Their Kids.

Is this putting a spin on the normal, “making something for dad” project idea? I would say so! It’s about time those sweet Dad’s out there get to actually be a part of their kid’s crafty-gift experience. Therefore, I will wow you fathers with some wild ideas about craftiness, carpentry, and painting with your kids. I promise to make this the Best Father’s Day Ever! What is your first activity on the list? Well, we can start with the favorite. The top sirloin of choice :) That would be…Building a house with a detached boat shed and any other imaginable feature. Did I mention, it is made of cardboard?! So, all you will need is a rather large box that you can cut into the same-size rectangular pieces, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, scissors, and a whole lot of patience! Construct your building, using whatever style you desire. Then, for a front porch addition, use uncooked linguine to stand upright which will act as columns for your porch construction. It is a guaranteed hit with your kids. Once, you have added garage bays and cut holes for interior windows and doors, it becomes almost realistic looking. This can also become a good spot for parking kids toys. Honestly, who doesn’t like a good building project anyways? It’s just FUN!

Next idea that may inspire an upcoming lake day, is painting a wooden wake board boat! Or bass boat. Or sail boat. You get the idea. Now, my husband is a HUGE fan of water sports, and lake-life is his favorite! So, when our boys wanted him to build them a tiny, Supra, he was almost more excited than they were to see the finished piece! However, if this is going to be an easy craft, I would suggest purchasing a wooden boat from Michaels. Then, you need a few paint brushes found at your local art supply store like Hobby Lobby, and assorted acrylic paint colors from Walmart. Now, you are set! Let your children choose their colors, and have them design their boat with a wake tower, speakers, and as many features as they can fit! Our boys can’t resist a red-striped Supra, so you can probably guess what their finished product resembled! The best part is, since it is made of wood, the boys still bring their homemade boats to the lake. They love the fact their, “best dad in the whole world” helped them create it! Win. Win.

For our last Father’s Day craft session, we will go with turkey hunting. See, crafting can be manly, exciting, and surprisingly fun! If you or your children don’t like hunting, this can be a nature-lovers activity! The special ingredients to this particular project are oven bake clay, an oven, and two sculpting tools that come with the oven bake clay package! Your kids may love this idea the BEST! You get to use your hands to sculpt an entire little creature. Who wouldn’t love that? So, let’s begin. First, divide the clay into pieces and roll a large ball of black clay for the turkey’s body. Then, create the turkeys fanned-out feathers by a getting a rounded, flat piece of clay and covering in long, tiny strips of yellow and orange clay. Add the blue face, miniature black eyes, and red piece over the mouth. Let your kids change anything they want about the turkey to make it as interesting as possible and hilarious! So this turkey will last forever and you can keep it to remember that special Father’s Day that you crafted with your kids, bake the turkey in the oven on a cookie sheet. Make sure the oven temperature is set to 275 degrees and it should take 25-30 minutes. When it is finished, you can use this turkey for decoration for a special holiday later in the year :) Hopefully, you will try one or all these activities and see how much fun it is sculpting, painting, constructing, and most importantly bonding with your kids on Father’s Day!
